Citing the CITI Program Website and Modules

The CITI Program has adopted a modified version of the Chicago Manual of Style 16th Edition's Author-Date format for reference lists and text citations.

Text citation

Notes

Reference should include the year, month, and day that you accessed a specific page on www.citiprogram.org. The title of the specific page should be displayed in quotation marks (the example above is "Webpage Title") and the website URL should be specific to that page.

Text citation should include the name of the organization (The CITI Program) and the year that you accessed the website.

Module with Single Author:

Reference

Doe, John. 2013. "Module Title." CITI Program https://www.citiprogram.org.

Text citation

(Doe 2013)

Notes

Reference should include the last name and first name of the module's author, the year that the module was last updated (displayed at the end of each module), and the title of the module in quotation marks (the example above is "Module Title").

Text citations should include the author's last name and the year that the module was last updated.

Module with Two Authors:

Reference

Doe, John, and Jane Roe. 2013. "Module Title." CITI Program https://www.citiprogram.org.

Text citation

(Doe and Roe 2013)

Reference should include the first and last name of each author, the year that the module was last updated (displayed at the end of each module), and the title of the module in quotation marks (the example above is "Module Title").

Text citations should include the last name of the first author listed, followed by "et al." The year should reflect when the module was last updated.
